I’m Max Carlson, a Theatre & Film Artist currently living in Brooklyn, NY. I didn’t always know my way around these bohemian streets, I grew up in Fishers, Indiana, a town about 30 minutes north of Indianapolis and moved to New York City in the Summer of 2021.

I began my journey in storytelling as a kid, making YouTube sketch videos with my friends (which I deleted after someone on the school bus told me they saw them; it’s famously tough being a child). I continued this journey in a more official sense when I directed my first feature film, Work in Progress, at the age of 17. Afterwards, I found the theatre and fell in love with its live and communal nature. Since then, a life of storytelling has taken me to places I never could have imagined, including New York’s Shakespeare in the Park, The Public Theater, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, and PBS to name a few.

Currently, I am in Post-Production for my latest Comedy Special, “Project Choo Choo”, which I shot by myself on a cross-country train heading from New York City to Los Angeles, California.
